The land was bought way back before the kids were born, house plan conceived some time after, building started not sure when. this house has grown alongside and around its family of five - for more then a decade or so - and at its own pace thanks - in accordance with the rhythm of time . nestled at the base of mt karioi and facing out to sea, this house exudes a sense of place that comes from a solid connection to the whenua. north facing, airy and spacious, the house is constructed with natural raw materials and is a stunning example of time spent wisely observing nature - true architecture. this is especially so with the curved wall of windows on the northern side. they have been positioned and designed to (# 1 check out the surf of course) but they also completely frame the primal beauty that is west coast new zealand, the curved glass somehow invites the drama inside by filtering the light in shafts and as they move across the concrete surfaces they bring the house to life with colour, texture and contrast. but that aint all, the concrete absorbs the warmth to heat the house once the light is done for the day. beauty + function. stylish eclectic furnishings - original artworks by raglan artists
